Golconda Fort is a delightful piece of wonder. It is around 10 km from Hyderabad to Golconda Fort. The fort spreads across 8 km. It is said that the Kakatiya Dynasty built the fort in the 13th century.
Golconda Fort Map
The fort was expanded into the present structure by Qutb Shahi sultans by adding 8 gateways and 86 bastions. It takes more than a day to enjoy the fort thoroughly.
The views in the fort are very fantastic. Golconda is a renowned market for pearl, diamond and gems and is situated on the Hyderabad route.
View From Golconda Fort
Someone told me that if we clap our hands standing at the entrance to the fort, the echo can be heard even on the top of the hill.
The specially-built ventilators in the fort enables cool breeze to reach the interiors even during the heat of summer.
Rock Resembles 2 Birds
The water supply system is ingenious; water is available even on top of the hill. Palaces, forts, materials used for punishing criminals, water supply system, etc. are the other attractions.
The view from the top of the fort is interesting as well as picturesque, it reminds us of Hampi. There are 2 large rocks on the top of the fort which resembles 2 birds sitting together.
At a distance of 1 km from the fort are Qutb Shahi tombs, beautiful by the way they are built and the surrounding landscaped gardens. I left the fort with memories and stories of rule of empires.
